The Historic Costume & Textiles Collection sponsored two summer workshops in partnership with the History Teaching Institute (HTI) that were funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The purpose of these workshops was to have K-12 teachers develop lesson plans that incorporated historic clothing artifacts in the teaching of history. Lesson plans were developed for language arts as well as history, ranging from grades 3-12. Those lesson plans can be found on the HTI website.
The workshops also culminated in the exhibition, History’s Closet: Teaching History Through Clothes, which can be found here.
