FRIENDS OF THE COLLECTION

Steven Stipelman Fashion Illustration,
OSU Collection

The Friends of the Collection is an organization of exceptional volunteers that was formally established in 1987 by Designer-in-Residence (now emeritus) Charles Kleibacker and members of the Columbus community having an interest in clothing and fashion. The purpose of the Friends is to support the mission of the Collection and promote the understanding, appreciation, and awareness of historic costume and textiles.
In support of the Collection, the Friends provide docents for exhibitions, fund a graduate student each year, and organize various fund-raising events. The Friends enhance and maintain the Collection through solicitation of funds that help support exhibitions, acquisitions, conservation, and preservation. As we move the Collection into its new storage space, volunteers are also needed to help catalogue and prepare objects for storage.
In addition, the Friends also participate in social and educational opportunities related to costume and textiles, such as trips to area costume exhibitions and attendance at lectures and programs initiated by the Collection.
