Bring the Museum to Your Classroom This package is an extension of the 1996-1997 exhibition, "Fashioning the Future." It provides the creative high school instructor the materials and guidelines for teaching a unit on historicism, using a multi-disciplinary approach, and focusing on a topic of intense interest to teenagers - clothing. The lesson plans, materials and exercises expose students to the notion of dress and clothing as a social study. It is visually and intellectually stimulating, interactive, entertaining and challenging. Designed for teachers of history, social studies, art and design, clothing design and construction, and women's studies, the package allows ample latitude for creative and adaptive lesson planning by the individual instructor.
